Not long after the big community update about the Drops program, it seems D&D Beyond is rolling out content sharing for its ‘Drops’.

Exciting news for D&D Beyond users! The D&D Beyond team has taken the community’s feedback in stride and made changes to reflect the needs and wants thereof. That is to say, D&D Beyond is adding content sharing to Drops for Master Tier subscribers. This is a huge deal for folks who run campaigns and want to share the various options with the people in it.

D&D Beyond Rolls Out Content Sharing For Drops

If you missed the initial wave of the story, back in May, D&D Beyond announced D&D Beyond Drops. It’s a series of weekly content “drops” that would, on occasion, add new rules and features and other mechanics to the game that wouldn’t fit elsewhere. At the beginning of every month, there’s a big Drop with new rules options. In May, we saw some new feats, and this month we got some new spells.

But one of the big issues for the community at large was that you couldn’t share these options, even if you had a Master Tier subscription. If you’re unfamiliar with D&D Beyond’s subscription tiers, Master Tier is the one for DMs and it allows you to share your stuff with anyone in a campaign with you. It’s a great way to make sure that everyone at your campaign can play without having to buy your whole library also to have access to it on D&D Beyond. Without it, I think it would be untenable.

So the community was surprised when they couldn’t share the player options and monsters and such with the other members of the campaign. Then earlier this month, D&D Beyond announced it was looking at changing that. And today, content sharing is rolled out for Master Tier, with another update planned for next Thursday:

Today, all D&D Beyond Drops player options and monsters are now enabled for Master Tier content sharing. By next Thursday (June 18), all D&D Beyond Drops Maps content will also be enabled for Master Tier content sharing. Thank you for helping us continue to shape D&D Beyond Drops into the program you want it to be. I hope you enjoy creating and sharing more together!

This is the kind of thing I think people both want and need to see from D&D. I know that the new heads of the team want to make a good impression and win back some of the community goodwill that’s been lost over the last few years. This is a great way to do exactly that. A little more transparency, change that happens at a good pace?

All hopeful indicators for the future of D&D.
