Starfinder’s newly unveiled Tech Core expansion promises two new classes and a whole lot of high-tech hijinks.
One of the big draws about Starfinder and its sci-fantasy world is that you get all the cool gear and tech stuff that comes with it. You can play characters that hack into enemy installations, or even sometimes directly into enemies. Slicing computer systems, making cool suits of personally tailored, finely-tuned power armor, that’s only the beginning.
And in the upcoming new Tech Core splatbook, Starfinder 2E looks to upgrade the game with a host of new player options. It won’t be out for months now, but let’s take a look at what the future holds.
Starfinder 2E Tech Core – The Mechanic And Technomancer Await
I think the most exciting thing about the new book is the set of two new classes. There’s the Mechanic, who as you might imagine, is all about artificial enhancements and making all the tech stuff run better. Or if you prefer to lean a little more on the ‘fantasy’ of sci-fantasy, there’s the Technomancer, a magic hacker who uses magic to computer.
But that’s just the tip of the tech ICEberg. You’ll also find a bunch of new archetypes for players, including the junkomancer and nanocyte, as well as new ancestries and heritages that let you play as more tech-focused characters. You might be a robotic SRO or a living hologram, like Arnold ‘Ace’ Rimmer from Red Dwarf.
“This 264-page rulebook introduces two tech-savvy classes, the artificially enhanced mechanic and the magic-hacking technomancer. It also features tactical starship combat, with new rules for building, crewing, and upgrading starships, plus hordes of sample foes, hazards, and plenty of GM tools for running your own tactical space battle.”
GMs have quite the arsenal in the toolbox as well. You’ll find new spells, new hazards, and new starship enemies. That’s right, you’re about to be able to have a lot more space combat in your space combat RPG. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s new feats, new gear, and a whole lot more.
Starfinder 2E’s Tech Core is out this October. So keep an eye out for when pre-orders go live.
Time to figure out another kind of robot to play!
