Stone Blade Entertainment will launch a Gamefound crowdfunding campaign for The Lord of the Rings: Ascension in summer 2026.

This new edition of the popular Ascension deck-building was revealed when Asmodee announced an initial roster of partner publishers for tabletop games based on Middle-earth Enterprises properties (see “Partner Publishers for Middle-earth Enterprises“). In this game, players can adventure across Middle-earth with three new sets for Ascension. The three sets are based on the three books of the LotR series: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King

Players will be tasked with choosing a faction from the LotR world, and building a deck of heroes and powerful cards that shape their strategy toward victory. This game features popular characters from the series, such as Gandalf the Grey, Legolas Greenleaf, Gollum, and others. It is for one to four players, ages 13 and up, and plays in 30 to 60 minutes.
