Dynamite Entertainment has announced more details of its upcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, which was first announced last July (see “Dynamite to Publish ‘Buffy,’ ‘Angel’ Comics“). The creative team will be Absolute Wonder Woman writer Kelly Thompson, artist Stephen Byrne, and colorist Lee Loughridge. The first issue will be released on July 27, 2026, and the first arc will include characters from both the Buffy and Angel TV shows, including the first comics appearance of a Buffy character. Cover artists will include David Nakayama, Amanda Conner, Joshua “Sway” Swaby, and Juliet Nneka, and there will also be a remastered version of Arthur Adams’ cover for the first Buffy comic, which debuted in 1998. Dynamite will also have blind bags, each of which will feature three premium variant covers, selected at random, including versions of the regular covers without trade dress, line art versions, original covers by Byrne, Declan Shalvey, and others, and icon covers by J. Scott Campbell and others.
Thompson will also write a companion Angel series for Dynamite.
