The Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc) will offer three scholarships for retailers who are attending the ComicsPRO Annual Meeting for the first time. The new scholarships were made possible by Jeff Figley and Django Bohren, the owners of The Comics Place in Bellingham, WA, and the founders of the Comic Shop Assistant POS system. Each scholarship will pay for up to $1,500 of travel, lodging, and meals, and ComicsPRO will cover the registration fee as well. This is in addition to the four scholarships previously announced (see “Binc to Offer Four Scholarships to ComicsPRO”). Applications for all scholarships are due by December 31, 2025, at 5 p.m. EST.

“We appreciate how ComicsPRO helps foster relationships between ourselves and other comic shops, all while pushing our industry forward,” Figley said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “We truly believe that inviting other stores to experience the annual meeting helps our industry get stronger, solves more problems, and will help anybody in this business remember why they love it.”

Binc helped Bohren pay his rent during the pandemic. “The simple way they asked, ‘are you in the comic industry? Would $1,000 help you pay rent?’ removed all my hang ups about needing to ask for help,” he said. “We want to do that for shops who can use a boost getting to this critical annual event, and we are stoked that Binc can help.”

The 2026 ComicsPRO Annual Meeting will be held in Glendale, California, on February 18-21, 2026 (see “ComicsPRO Annual Meeting Returns to Glendale“).
