Herd your opponents into attaching more Energy, then slice them down with this deck list and strategy.

Gallade ex has been striking opponents from the sidelines ever since its debut in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket’s Space-Time Smackdown expansion. The latest expansion, Extradimensional Crisis, introduced Stoutland, the Big-Hearted Pokémon who has surprising synergy with Gallade ex that relies on careful sequencing to secure a victory.

2× Ralts (Space-Time Smackdown: Dialga)
1× Kirlia (Space-Time Smackdown: Dialga)
2× Gallade ex (Space-Time Smackdown: Dialga)
2× Lillipup (Extradimensional Crisis)
1× Herdier (Extradimensional Crisis)
2× Stoutland (Extradimensional Crisis)
2× Professor’s Research (Promo)
1× Ilima (Celestial Guardians: Lunala)
1× Guzma (Celestial Guardians: Lunala)
1× Lillie (Celestial Guardians: Solgaleo)
1× Cyrus (Space-Time Smackdown: Palkia)
2× Poké Ball (Promo)
2× Rare Candy (Celestial Guardians)

Game plan: Leading with Lillipup is ideal, since it only needs one Colorless Energy to start attacking. Lillipup’s Stage 1 Evolution, Herdier, which also uses only one Colorless Energy to attack, can do some early damage in games where you go first. Once Stoutland is on the battlefield, its Guard Dog Visage Ability makes the Defending Pokémon’s attacks cost one Colorless Energy more to use—plus, it boasts a sturdy 140 HP, so it’s not an easy Knock Out for your opponent.

After Stoutland’s Ability has forced your opponent to attach extra Energy to attack, it’s Gallade ex’s time to shine. Its attack, Energized Blade, does 20 more damage for each Energy attached to your opponent’s Active Pokémon. Gallade ex is especially powerful against Pokémon that require at least four Energy to attack, such as Giratina ex or Charizard ex. Even the beefy Buzzwole ex would need a Leaf Cape to survive Energized Blade’s extra damage if it’s forced to attach four Energy for Big Beat.

As Colorless Pokémon, Lillipup, Herdier, and Stoutland all work well with Celestial Guardians’ Supporter card Ilima. Ilima puts one of your Colorless Pokémon that has damage on it into your hand, which could come in handy if you’d rather not pay the Retreat Cost to protect Stoutland from being Knocked Out.

Gallade ex and Stoutland can both benefit from a Supporter card like Lillie, who heals 60 damage from one of your Stage 2 Pokémon—maybe just enough to survive another attack. Cyrus can help against decks using Pokémon (or Ultra Beasts!) such as Celesteela that can switch out Pokémon when they have damage, and Guzma can keep the board clear of Pokémon Tool cards.

Additionally, with two Stage 2 Pokémon in the deck, you’ll need all the help you can get to evolve those Pokémon as soon as possible, so be sure to run with two each of Rare Candy, Poké Ball, and Professor’s Research.

Have fun tactically sequencing these Pokémon to secure a victory, Trainers!
