Niantic is continuing to announce new events and content for Pokémon GO. Read on below to learn more:

Seas the day with two new entries for your Pokédex, a Global Challenge, and more.

Pokémon GO is shelling out summertime fun with a weeklong trip to the beach. Through June 12, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time the world is your oyster with themed Pokémon, a Global Challenge, Timed Research, a Spotlight Hour, and more. Trainers will be as happy as a clam adding two new Pokédex entries with the arrival of Sandygast and Palossand to Pokémon GO. The Sand Heap Pokémon will be available as an encounter for completing Field Research tasks and in one-star raids, and you can evolve it into Palossand with 50 Sandygast Candy. And with a two-hour Rainy Lure Module duration throughout the event, it will be raining Water-, Bug-, and Electric-type Pokémon.

It’s water, water everywhere with the following Pokémon appearing in the wild throughout the event. The Pokémon in italics have a chance of appearing as Shiny Pokémon!

Around the world, Trainers are challenged to make 300 million Nice Throws while trying to catch Pokémon. Completing the challenge will unlock bonuses including increased Candy for Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws. And Trainers Level 31 and up will have an increased chance of receiving Candy XL for catching Pokémon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws.

Surf on over to the Shop for Timed Research available for US$5.00 (or the equivalent in your local currency). This Timed Research must be completed by June 12, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Complete the research to receive the Surfing Pose for your avatar and encounters with event-themed Pokémon. Trainers can also purchase tickets for Timed Research as gifts for friends that they’ve achieved a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with.

Crabulous news!  During the event-themed Spotlight Hour on June 6, 2023, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Krabby, Kabuto, Corphish, Clauncher, and Crabrawler will appear more frequently in the wild and Trainers will earn triple XP for catching Pokémon.

A Global Challenge will take place throughout the event! Work with Trainers around the world to throw 300 million Nice Throws to unlock bonuses for all Trainers to enjoy for the remainder of the event!

  • Increased Candy for Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws
  • Increased chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws

To celebrate Water Festival: Beach Week, an event-themed Spotlight Hour will run on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, from 6:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m., featuring the following Pokémon. The spotlight hour will also include a 3× XP bonus for catching Pokémon!

Timed Research

For US$5.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research.

Complete the research tasks to earn a surfer pose for your avatar and encounters with event-themed Pokémon!

Please note that Timed Research expires. The Timed Research tasks and their rewards will disappear on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Trainers will be able to purchase and gift tickets to any of their Pokémon GO friends that they have achieved a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with. Please note that purchases—including those made for other Trainers—are non-refundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service). Tickets cannot be purchased with PokéCoins.

*Please note that the Water Festival: Beach Week Timed Research Ticket will only be available in the in-game shop from Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, June 11, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
