Dark Horse Comics will release The Last Voyage of Sindbad, a new edition of the 1979 Heavy Metal collection New Tales of the Arabian Nights, in May 2026.  The work, written by Jan Strnad with art by Corben, was originally published in Heavy Metal magazine and then collected into a trade paperback, which has been out of print for many years.  The new volume is the next in Dark Horse’s Richard Corben library, after this November’s release of Rat God (see “Deluxe Edition of ‘Rat God’“).

In addition to the comic story, which will have art restored by project director Jose Villarrubia, the new edition will include bonus materials, new introductions by Strnad and Guillermo del Toro, and essays by Harlan Ellison, Maurice Horn, and Villarrubia.

In the story, Sindbad is guided by a sensuous stranger as he confronts monsters, deception, and horrors from beyond the grave in a final quest that’s the climax to his legend.

The Last Voyage of Sindbad will be released as a 120-page, 8″ x 11″ hardback in bookstores on May 26, 2026, and in comic stores on May 27, 2026.
