Warhammer 40k Boltgun – Words of Vengeance – free on Steam
Auroch Digital, developer of the exquisitely gory boomer shooter Boltgun, has created a spinoff game called Words of Vengeance, that has you type out suitably ridiculous, grimdark phrases in order to shoot and kill heretics – and released it immediately for free.
We don’t know whose idea it was, but we want to give them the biggest, shiniest honor scroll purity seal possible.
Warhammer 40k Gladius Relics of War – free on Steam
Slitherine’s sprawling Gladius – Relics of War is both the best Warhammer 40k 4X game, and one of the best 4X games on PC, period.
It’s only available free to keep if you grab it before Thursday, May 29, though – so get your copy quick!
Warhammer 40k: Rites of War – free on GOG
To celebrate GW’s new alliance with Good Old Games (GOG) to revive vintage Warhammer games and make them available DRM-free, you can currently get the 1999 classic Rites of War for zero dollars, for keeps.
It’s an old-school computer wargame in the Panzer General model, with 2.5d battles played out over hex maps, and forces that persist from mission to mission, meaning you’ll level up surviving units, and recruit fresh ones to replace those lost in battle. Don’t expect modern UI conveniences – but do expect crunchy wargaming! Plus, games that center the Aeldari are rare, so it’s not one to miss.
