IDW has announced Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring, by Patrick Horvath, a six-issue sequel to Horvath’s Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees. Every issue of Horvath’s “cozy horror” series was in the top 200 comics sold through ComicHub, and according to IDW each issue had higher sales than the one before, and the first trade sold through its 20,000 print run in less than two months (see “‘Beneath the Trees’ Burns Through First Printing”). The six-issue series was nominated for the 2024 Eisner Award for Best New Series, and letter Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou won the Best Lettering Eisner on the strength of a portfolio that included it.
Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring will bring back the cute but deadly serial killer Samantha Strong for a new adventure. The first issue will be published on July 9, 2025.
IDW is also offering Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Storybook Edition, a deluxe hardcover priced at $150 and available only direct from the publisher, that collects the six-issue series plus a 10-page prequel that has not been included in any trades. The series is also available on the Webtoon platform (see “IDW, Webtoon to Collaborate on Vertical Scroll Comics”).
