What cards are on the YuGiOh Master Duel banlist? Master Duel introduced a new way to play the YuGiOh TCG in 2022, and a new list of Forbidden, Limited, and Semi Limited Master Duel cards quickly followed. With digital Yugioh expanding all the time, it needs its own (quite frequent) card bans to fix what gets broken. We track the changes in this guide, so you know the latest bans with minimal fuss.
If you also play the physical trading card game, be sure to bookmark our Yu Gi Oh banlist too – and for serious collectors, we have a guide tracking the most expensive YuGiOh cards money can buy.
Here, we’ll cover the details of the most recent Master Duel banlist update first, then list out the overall banlist in full, separated by card types. If you’re not sure what some of the terms mean, hop straight to our FAQ at the bottom and we’ll explain.

What is the YuGiOh Master Duel banlist?
The Master Duel card pool doesn’t look quite the same as the one from the physical trading card game, so a separate banlist is needed to keep things balanced. Despite this, the Master Duel banlist follows roughly the same rules as the regular YuGiOh banlist.
By this, we mean there are three degrees of ‘ban’ a card can be subject to:
- Forbidden – Can’t be used in the Main Deck, Extra Deck, or Side Deck
- Limited – Can only have one copy in the Main Deck, Extra Deck, and Side Deck
- Semi-limited – Can have two copies max in the Main Deck, Extra Deck, and Side Deck combined
If a card is not on the banlist at all, it’s referred to as Unlimited.
And that’s it for the Master Duel banlist as it stands! For more YuGiOh news, check out what’s coming in the YuGiOh release schedule. We can also teach you about YuGiOh card sizes and how to build a YuGiOh deck.
