A flat summer overall and a promising fall led into a holiday season with muted expectations in hobby game stores, according to our interviews with retailers and distributors in recent months.
The overall hobby was seen as healthy, with one distributor pointing to accessories sales as a marker for the underlying categories. “Accessories continue to perform well and are a good indicator of health and interest in the respective hobbies that they support,” the distributor told us. “CCG sleeves and other CCG accessories move like hotcakes, but miniature painting supplies and dice (always dice) continue to sell like people are swallowing d6s and chasing them down with paint.”
