DC Adds Two More Titles to ‘Compact Comics’ Line

DC will add two more titles to its best-selling line of Compact Comics in July 2025: Superman/Batman: Book Oneand The Authority: Book One.

The Authority

was first published by the DC imprint Wildstorm in 1999 and features a team of no-holds-barred superheroes who use violence and ruthless tactics to defend the Earth from terrorists and alien invaders.  The Compact Comics edition collects the first series, by writer Warren Ellis and artist Bryan Hitch, and will be released on July 1, 2025, with a cover by Hitch, Paul Neary, and Phil Jimenez.

Superman/Batman: Book One, which launched in 2003, includes two story arcs, “Public Enemies” and “Supergirl” with the two title characters both telling the story from their point of view. Book One is written by Jeph Loeb with art by Tim Sale, Ed McGuinness, Michael Turner, and Dexter Vines, and will go on sale on July 15, 2025, with a cover by Michael Turner.

DC introduced the Compact Comics in June 2024.  The compact paperbacks, priced at $9.99, were designed to be self-contained and accessible to new readers (see “DC Launches New Line of ‘Compact Comics’”).  The volumes already released have been best-sellers in the book channel (see “June 2024 Circana BookScan”) and in stores using ComicHub (see “Top 20 Graphic Novels – June 2024”).
