SDCC News: Mark Waid to Write New Justice League Series, Jeff Lemire on ‘Absolute Flash’

DC Comics announced the return of its iconic “bullet” logo at Comic-Con International in San Diego this past weekend, as well as new details of the summer Absolute Power event and the recently announced Absolute Universe (see “DC to Launch ‘Absolute Universe’“).

DC Publisher Jim Lee made the logo announcement during his Jim Lee & Friends panel, saying that the so-called “bullet,” designed by Milton Glaser, would be the official logo of both DC Comics and DC Studios starting in October.  The bullet was DC’s official logo from 1976 to 2005.

Writer Mark Waid and artist Dan Mora will launch a new Justice League lineup on November 27, 2024, in their new series Justice League Unlimited.  The superhero team went on break after 2022’s “Death of the Justice League” story arc (see “Preview: ‘Justice League; #75 Covers“).

Jeff Lemire will return to the Justice Society for a new series, penciled by Diego Olortegui, with a wide-ranging storyline that will reach into every corner of the DC Universe.

At the Absolute Power panel, DC Executive Editor Chris Conroy announced that the newest title in the Absolute Universe would be Absolute Flash, by Lemire and artist Nick Robles, launching in March 2025.  The story is set when Wally Wood is 15 years old and, like all the Absolute titles, will present an alternate take on the character.

And at the “What’s Happening in the DC Multiverse” panel, writer Ram V announced that he will be teaming up with artist Evan Cagle for a new spin on Jack Kirby’s Fourth World.  The New Gods will launch in December 2024.
