Keenspot will launch Mark Spears Monsters, a new bi-monthly comic series based on the trading card intellectual property by Spears, in September, the company announced. The new series features art, story, and covers by Spears, who’s been growing his comic fan audience (Instagram at 33,000) behind work on various Spawn series, Action Comics, and Power Rangers, among others.
The property is set in the 1980s, and features werewolves, mummies, vampires, zombies, and witches with a modern twist. Spears’ takes on the characters were introduced in two Mark Spears Monsters Trading Card series. The story follows a Monster Slayer from a forgotten era who’s pulled back into the realm of the supernatural after an old friend disappears, two detectives investigating a series of grisly murders, and a group of kids who witness what they believe to be their recently deceased neighbor wandering the streets.
The first issue will be available in seven covers, along with three incentive covers, all by Spears:
- Cover A (Looking Down on You): $5.99
- Cover B (Dripping Blood): $5.99
- Cover C (Infinity Gauntlet Homage): $5.99
