Any experienced Pokémon Trainer will tell you that our rivals help make us stronger, challenging us to be the very best we can. Pokémon GO is celebrating that vital relationship with Rivals Week from May 4, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. to May 9, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Make the most of it with event bonuses that include ten times the XP for spinning Photo Discs at Gyms, double the Candy for catching Pokémon, and an increased chance of encountering the following Shiny Pokémon: Zangoose, Seviper, Throh, Sawk, Heatmor, and Durant.
Throughout Rivals Week, Fighting-type Pokémon and Pokémon with a feisty reputation within the GO Battle League will be appearing more frequently in the wild. This includes Alolan Sandshrew, Mankey, Poliwag, Machop, Lickitung, Gligar, Ralts, and Galarian Stunfisk.
On specific days, certain Pokémon might be more likely to appear:
- May 4 at 10:00 a.m. to May 6 at 10:00 a.m. local time: Zangoose and Seviper
- May 6 at 10:00 a.m. to May 8 at 10:00 a.m. local time: Throh and Sawk
- May 8 at 10:00 a.m. to May 9 at 8:00 p.m. local time: Heatmor and Durant
Power up your strongest Pokémon to take on the following raids:
- One-Star Raids

Out-research your rivals by completing Field Research tasks to earn encounters with Alolan Sandshrew, Mankey, Poliwag, Lickitung, Gligar, Ralts, and Galarian Stunfisk. And take on event-themed Timed Research to earn XP, Rare Candy, Fast TMs, and encounters with event-themed Pokémon.
If all that wasn’t enough to ignite your fighting spirit, GO Battle Weekend is happening from May 4 at 12:00 a.m. to May 5 at 11:59 p.m. local time. During that time, the following bonuses will be in effect.
- 4× Stardust from win rewards (excluding end-of-set rewards)
- The maximum number of sets per day will increase from five to 20 for a total of 100 battles
- Free battle-themed Timed Research will be available, with rewards including the Hala-Style Sandals avatar item
You can purchase a ticket for battle-themed Timed Research from the in-game shop for US$2.00 (or the equivalent pricing in your local currency). Complete this research to earn Stardust, one Star Piece, three Rare Candies, and three Rare Candies XL.
