Mythmere Games Initiates Kickstarter Campaign for “Swords & Wizardry” Expansion

Mythmere Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign for an expansion to “Swords & Wizardry,” the retro-clone of Original D&D. Titled “Swords & Wizardry: Expansions, Monsters, and More!,” the campaign aims to enhance the game with new features and has already exceeded its funding goal significantly.

The campaign has raised $72,770, well beyond the initial $10,000 target, with 718 backers and 24 days left. This indicates strong interest from the gaming community.

The Book of Options introduces 11 new character classes, including demon-hunters and illusionists, along with new spells and magic items. It also adds Gnomes and Stygians as playable ancestries for the first time in 16 years.

Fiends & Foes – A Monster Compendium includes over 300 updated monsters, enhancing the game’s challenge and diversity. The book features creatures such as Ultharians and Bulgrimalkins, along with updated versions of creatures from the Monstrosities compendium.

Domain of Heryngard & Tomb of the Iron God offers new adventures and locations for players. This includes a hex-crawl campaign and the Tomb of the Iron God, a low-level adventure reintroduced from its original 2008 publication.

The Kickstarter uses an a-la-carte model, allowing backers to select specific components of the expansion. This model provides flexibility in funding choices. The campaign also offers the Complete Revised Rulebook of “Swords & Wizardry” as an add-on, making it accessible to new players.

The campaign features the work of artists such as Del Teigeler, Brett Barkley, J.E. Shields, Kennon James, and Chris Arneson. Mythmere Games emphasizes that no AI-generated art is used in these products. The books are produced with durable bindings to ensure longevity.
