Bob Marley: One Love was the top of the weekend box office. The film brought in $27.7 million for the weekend and has an estimated $51.1 million for the holiday weekend. Internationally, the film grossed $29 million for a worldwide opening week of $80.1 million.
Madame Web came in second with the worst opening for Sony’s Spider-Man franchise. The movie grossed $25.8 million domestically over the holiday weekend and Wednesday opening ($15.2 million over the weekend) and $25.7 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $51.5 million. Morbius had the previous honor of a bomb with $39 million opening weekend. It went on to earn $167.5 million worldwide but is rich in memes. Madame Web has just 13% approval for critic reviews and 55% for audience, expect this one to either tank or get a nice run for the hate watching.
Argylle slipped to third place with $4.7 million. It has now grossed $37.3 million domestically. Internationally, the film has grossed $8.7 million over the week to bring that to a little over $40 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $77.3 million.
Migration moved up one spot to come in fourth place and improved its gross. The film earned $3.8 million, a 27.7% improvement. It has now grossed $116.1 million domestically. Internationally, the movie has grossed a bit over $140 million for a worldwide total of $256.1 million.
The Chosen: S4 Episodes 4-6 rounded out the top five. It grossed $3.4 million for its domestic total to bring it to $4.2 million domestically.
In comic film news…
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has been having a slow slide since its opening weekend and added $750,000 to its domestic total in its ninth week. Domestically, the film now stands at $123.5 million. Internationally, the film added $2.4 million over the week and has grossed $309.8 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $433.3 million.
The week’s overall box office success…
Numbers have 39 films earning $75,954,990 from 37,507 theaters. That’s over double the previous weekend’s $36,975,722 from 39,083 theaters and 73 films. The average earning was $2,025.09 which a big increase from the previous weekend’s $946.08.
