Free League Publishing has officially launched Ad Astra, the latest expansion for the award-winning role-playing game Mutant: Year Zero. This new expansion extends the game’s narrative beyond the post-apocalyptic Earth, allowing players to explore space and the solar system.
Ad Astra offers a scenario where players can experience adventures in orbit around Earth and beyond. The setting is described as a star city, orbiting weightlessly, that players approach through the portholes of a space capsule. This introduction sets the stage for a story where something is evidently amiss in the star city.
Designed to be adaptable, Ad Astra can function as a standalone game or as a continuation of the Path to Eden campaign found in the Mutant: Year Zero core rulebook. The expansion includes additional rules for space-based gameplay and provides an overview of the solar system, suggesting numerous possibilities for further adventures.
The team behind Ad Astra includes writer Jens Alm and the core team at Free League Publishing, with illustrations by Kim W. Andersson. Andersson, an award-winning comic book writer and artist known for works such as Love Hurts and Alena, contributes his visual storytelling to the expansion, enriching the player’s experience with his artwork.
Ad Astra is now available for purchase through the Free League webshop, as a PDF on DriveThruRPG, and as a Virtual Tabletop (VTT) module on Foundry, making it accessible to players in various formats.
This expansion marks a significant addition to the Mutant: Year Zero universe, introducing space exploration elements to the game’s established post-apocalyptic setting.
