D&D: Our Five Favorite Magic Items From Fizban’s Treasury Of Dragons

Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons is packed full of enough treasure to satisfy even the most voracious of dragons. Here are some of our faves.

With the release of Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons, we’ve got a veritable treasure trove of new magic items, great and small. With a variety of power levels between them, there’s enough to excite any adventurer. From weapons to wands, here’s a look at our favorite magic items.

Crystal Blade

This sword is just plain neat without being overpowered. Fashioned from the horn or spine of a crystal dragon, this sword normally does 1d8 extra radiant damage. That’s fine enough on its own, but it also has 3 charges that can be spent to regain hit points equal to the extra radiant damage, making you a little bit more resilient.

Platinum Scarf

A fashionable accessory for any player, this long scarf is woven with platinum-colored scales. Up to three can be used to create one of three different effects. You can gain the ability to lay on hands for 10d4 hit points, use one as a +1 shield (and gain immunity to radiant damage), or use one as a magic hammer to deal radiant damage (dealing extra to chromatic dragons). The best part? Each of the scales grows back at dawn.

Topaz Annihilator

This is a magical musket– only instead of holding any ammunition, it holds a topaz dragon in scale in its heart. When attuned to it, you can shoot bolts of magical energy out to 100 feet normally, with a long range of 300 feet. It deals 2d6 necrotic damage on a hit and disintegrates whatever it drops to 0 hit points. It can be used once per day to cast disintegrate.

Gold Canary Figurine of Wondrous Power

This is a normal figurine of wondrous power that can be used to summon a giant canary. It can be ridden as a mount for up to 8 hours and has a flying speed of 60 ft, making it quite a nice ride indeed. But, if you’re missing half or more of your hit points, you can instead summon an adult gold dragon for an hour– but you can only use this property once per year.

Dragon Wing Bow

Another magical weapon we love is this bow shaped like a dragon’s wings. It’s infused with the essence of a dragon’s breath. It doesn’t actually use ammo. Instead it fires magical ammunition that does an extra 1d6 damage of whatever energy type is infused in the bow.

Happy Adventuring!
