Niantic is continuing to announce new events and content for Pokémon GO. Read on below to learn more:
Level up with triple XP for catching Pokémon during this throwback event.
In 2020, the community selected Porygon to be the featured Pokémon of that year’s September Community Day, and now, almost four years later, it returns from cyberspace for 2024’s first Community Day Classic. The Virtual Pokémon, first discovered in the Kanto region, will be appearing more often in the wild on January 20, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Lucky Trainers might even catch a Shiny Porygon! Evolve Porygon2—Porygon’s Evolution—during the event or up to two hours after to get a Porygon-Z that knows the Charged Attack Tri Attack.
Make the most of special event bonuses that include the following.
- 3× XP for catching Pokémon.
- Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
- Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
- Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise!
If you’re looking to really upgrade your Community Day and obtain even more Porygon Candy, be sure to Mega Evolve a Pokémon that matches Porygon’s type, such as Mega Pidgeot, Mega Kangaskhan, or Mega Lopunny. If your Mega Evolved Pokémon’s Mega Level is at least High Level, you’ll have a greater chance of receiving Candy XL when catching Porygon.
Dive into themed Field Research to earn Stardust, Great Balls, additional encounters with Porygon, and more. Timed Research awarding three Upgrades and three Sinnoh Stones will also be available until 7:00 p.m. local time. These items are essential if you’re looking to evolve your Porygon into Porygon2 and then into Porygon-Z.
Additionally, a ticket for the Porygon Community Day Classic–exclusive Special Research story will be available in the in-game shop for US$1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). You can even give the gift of research by purchasing a ticket for a friend who you have a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with.

- For US$1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access the Porygon Community Day Classic–exclusive Special Research story.
- Stay tuned for when tickets for the Special Research story go live.
- Don’t forget: you’re now able to purchase and gift tickets to any of your friends that you’ve achieved a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with.* To gift a ticket, tap the Special Research ticket in the in-game shop, then tap the Gift button instead of the Buy button.
Tickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service). Please note that this Special Research will not include an in-game medal.

Pokémon GO Web Store Community Day Classic Box
A Community Day Classic Box featuring 120 Ultra Balls, 15 Silver Pinap Berries, six Basic Incubators, and one Incense will be available on the Pokémon GO Web Store during the event for $9.99.
Event bundles
Two bundles will be available during this event.
For 1,350 PokéCoins, you will get 50 Ultra Balls, five Super Incubators, one Elite Charged TM, and five Lucky Eggs.
For 480 PokéCoins, you will get 30 Ultra Balls, one Incense, three Super Incubators, and one Lure Module.
