Niantic is continuing to announce new events and content for Pokémon GO. Read on below to learn more:

Make the most of Routes with Party Play, event bonuses, and opportunities to give and receive gifts.

Since Routes first launched in Pokémon GO in July 2023, more than 1 million Routes have been created, offering opportunities for Trainers to explore, research, and earn rewards. Pokémon GO’s Along the Routes event—taking place from December 5, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. to December 8, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time—offers a chance to take the road less travelled while racking up some exciting bonuses. You’ll be able to explore Routes while in a party for the first time, and you’ll also meet Mateo, a friendly new face who can be found at the end of Routes.

Mateo is an affable researcher who loves to pick up Gifts as he travels the world. When you complete a Route, Mateo may be waiting for you at the end point. He’ll then ask if you’d like to participate in a Gift Exchange. If you agree, you’ll receive a Gift from another Trainer, and you can pin the Postcard attached to that Gift to make progress toward your Vivillon Collector medal.

Since Mateo loves research, it’s fitting that there are several research opportunities over the course of the event. A Special Research story titled A Route to New Friendships will help you get better acquainted with Mateo, and you can complete Timed Research available throughout the event focused on exploring and sending Gifts to earn encounters with event-themed Pokémon including Hisuian Sneasel, Feebas, Wooloo, and Pawmi.

Make the most of event bonuses including:

  • 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator during the event period
  • 3× XP for spinning PokéStops
  • 5× XP for spinning a PokéStop for the first time
  • 2× Stardust from opening Gifts

Say heyo to Mateo, Trainers!
