It’s not too much of a surprise, but Avatar: The Way of Water has once again topped the weekend box office. The movie added $15.7 million to its domestic total to bring it to $620.6 million. Along with its $1.496 billion at the international box office, the film has grossed $2.117 billion worldwide.
The film has yet to crack the top ten of domestic grosses of all time, sitting at number 11. But, with only $3 million to pass The Avengers, it’s sure to do so early on this week. Worldwide, the film sits at #4 and is about $80 million away from passing Titanic. Compared to the original Avatar, the film is running a bit ahead in its domestic gross’ percentage of its overall total, 29.3% compared to 26.9% of the original.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish was a repeat in second place with a reported $10.6 million. Its domestic gross now stands at $140.8 million. Internationally, it added about $22.3 million to bring that total to $193.3 million Worldwide, the film has grossed $334.1 million, showing a nice pair of claws as its performed consistently well since its release.
A Man Called Otto moved into third from last week’s fifth adding $6.8 million to its domestic total. It has now grossed $46.1 million. Internationally, it added about $4.9 million over the week to lift that to $24.9 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed just under $71 million.
M3GAN slipped one spot to come in fourth. The film added an estimated $6.4 million to its domestic total to bring that to $82.3 million. Over the week it added $12.4 million to its domestic total to bring that to $63.7 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed a little over $146 million.
Pathaan debuted in fifth place with a little over $5.9 million to bring its domestic total to $8.5 million. No international total has been reported yet.
In comic film news…
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond gained a little over the week, about $88,000, to bring its domestic total to $1.6 million. Internationally, it also added about $100,000 to bring that to $9.7 million. The worldwide total is now a bit over $11.3 million.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever slipped to #17 and grossed $758,000 to bring its domestic total to $453 million. Internationally, the film added about $1 million over the week to bring that to $388.3 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed over $841.3 million.
Black Adam‘s domestic gross looks like it hasn’t shifted and stands at $168.2 million. Over the week the international remained steady at $224.8 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed just under $393 million.
Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time looks to have ended its run. Domestically, it has grossed $810,744. Internationally, the film gained a little and is now just under $93 million for a worldwide gross of $93.8 million.
The week’s overall box office success…
Numbers have 34 films earning $70,603,622 from 36,513 theaters. That’s a slight dip from last weekend’s $74,167,639 from 33,384 theaters and 52 films. The average earning was $1,933.66 this past weekend, a drop from the previous weekend’s $2,221.65.
