Skybound has laid out its planned series of releases marking the 20th anniversary of Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley’s Invincible, including two new takes on the first issue, a direct-market-only hardcover edition of the Invincible Compendium, and more.
The series, whichfollows the misadventures of super-powered teenager Mark Grayson, launched on January 22, 2003, and has been a frequent visitor to the best-seller charts since the launch of the animated series on Amazon Prime in March 2021. The first three 20th anniversary titles are slated for January 25, 2023:
- Invincible Compendium Vol. 1 HC, a hardcover edition of the paperback first released in 2011, which collects Invincible #0 to 47. The hardcover will be exclusive to comic shops.
- Invincible #1, a facsimile edition of the original first issue.
- Invincible Undeluxe#1, ablack and white version of the story, along with an array of variant covers and an installment of “The Cutting Room Floor,” featuring Kirkman’s handwritten plot notes and commentary. This comic is not scheduled to be collected in the near future.
In Summer 2023, Skybound will re-release the story in a 6” by 9” graphic novel format, with new covers by Walker and Dave McKaig. Also coming later this year is the Invincible Universe Compendium,collecting related stories: Invincible Presents: Atom Eve #1-2, Invincible Presents: Atom Eve & Rex Splode #1-3, Guarding The Globe (Vol 1) #1-6, Guarding The Globe (Vol. 2) #1-6, and Invincible Universe #1-12.
Future plans also include tabletop games, collectibles, and apparel.
