The Batman Repeats in First Place as Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie has a Strong Debut

It’s no surprise that The Batman came in first place but the second place shows that niche releases can pay off. The Batman earned an estimated $36.8 million over the weekend to bring its domestic gross to $300.1 million. Over the week, the film also earned about $73.3 million internationally to bring that total to $598.1 million.

In second place was Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie, the latest anime film to have a strong debut weekend. That film earned an estimated $14.8 million to bring its domestic total to $17.7 million. Internationally, the film has also earned $112.1 million for a worldwide total of $129.8 million.

Uncharted slipped to third place adding an estimated $8 million to its domestic total to bring that to $125.9 million. Internationally, the film grossed around $23.5 million over the week to bring that total to $211.4 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $337.3 million.

X is another debut coming in fourth place with an estimated $4.4 million.

Rounding out the top five was Dog which added $3.2 million to its domestic total to bring that to $54.2 million. The film also earned about $1.4 million internationally to bring that to $7.9 million and a worldwide total of $62.1 million.

In comic film news…

Spider-Man: No Way Home came in sixth place as the film also saw its digital release this past week. Even with that, the movie earned $3.2 million to lift its domestic total to $797.5 million. It also earned about $3 million over the week internationally to bring that to $1.087 billion and a worldwide total of $1.885 billion.

The King’s Man didn’t chart this past week and its domestic gross remains steady at $37.2 million. The film seems steady internationally with a total of $88.7 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $125.9 million.

Initial numbers have 27 films earning $79,540,094 from 28,842 theaters. That’s a drop from last weekend’s 52 films which earned $101,935,219 from 29,273 theaters theaters. The average earning was $2,757.79 this past weekend, a decrease from the previous weekend’s $3,482.23.
