NECA: Toxicity Now! Glow-in-the-Dark Muckman and Joe Eyeball

The mutants on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tend to glow a lot, but none so much as Muckman and Joe Eyeball, so they seem like a natural fit for a glow-in-the-dark variant. Let’s take a look!

The box has that deluxe VHS style design and features an excellent character illustration, but this illustration has a bonus glow feature.

The figure comes with the same stuff he had in the original release, just in varying levels of GITD, including a barrel of slime, two hands for Muckman (claw and grip), an extra mouth piece, Joe Eyeball, a trash can that Joe can ride in, and a blunderbuss looking blaster.

The gun does not glow, but is painted in some matching revolting greens. It fits perfectly in the trigger hands and is sharply sculpted.

The trash can/back pack does not glow either, but is painted in the darkest of revolting greens featured on this figure. It clips on Mucky’s back and Joe can sit in there like a bathtub or clip on the rim with his unarticulated lower arms.

The mouth piece can swap out so you have two different expressions.

The slime is a lovely snot green and the barrel has the Tropotron Labs logo on the shrinkwrap. The slime and the barrel do not glow either.

The sculpt is unchanged from the original release, but the bright green plastic really emphasizes the goopy textures on the main body of the figure.

Both Joe and Muckman are mostly cast in the GITD green, but there is some accent paint here and there to emphasize the details. The green of the body is fairly bright in regular light, almost glowing in blue LED light. Muckman’s clothes and some of the crud that is stuck to him has a couple different colors of paint. Most of the accent paint doesn’t glow.

The glow effect is good, though he does end up with big dark spots on the places where he doesn’t glow. It all looks pretty rad under black light as pictured below.

Articulation is standard with:

  • Swivel/hinge shoulders, wrists, hips, and ankles
  • Ball and socket head and mid-torso
  • Swivel biceps
  • Double hinged knees and elbows

Overall this is a fun variant and the perfect kind of figure for an exclusive. Nice to have if not completely essential.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Cartoon) – 7” Scale Action Figures – Ultimate Glow in the Dark Ultimate Muckman & Joe Eyeball retails for $36.99.
