Pendragon Game Studios launched Starship Interstellar, a new sci-fi board game, on Kickstarter.
This game was designed by Davide Calza and Andrea Crespi; the latter of the two designers worked on The Thing – The Boardgame (see “‘The Thing – The Boardgame’ Kickstarter“). It takes players to the year 2357, where the players must find a way to save humanity in the wake of Earth’s impending destruction. The Sun is turning into a red giant star, and players need to get people off of the planet.
The goal of the game is to build a starship, place people on the ship, and find a way to the Trappist’s solar system. It is a competitive game where the players, who are representing Earth’s nations, are looking to gain the most Prestige in the process of saving humanity. This game runs on an action token mechanic and simulates planetary movement during gameplay.
As of the publication of this article, Starship Interstellar is fully funded at $71,381 from 591 backers (about $121 per backer). This campaign offers a retailer pledge level for about $509 which includes a minimum order of 6 copies of the game and its stretch goals.
