Jackass has proven it still has some pranks in it as the latest entry, Jackass Forever, was the top of the weekend box office. The film earned $23.5 million domestically and $5.2 million at the international box office for a worldwide total of $28.7 million.
Jackass: The Movie debuted in 2002 with $22.8 million and went on to earned $64.3 million domestically and $79.5 million worldwide. Jackass Number Two opened in 2006 with $29 million and went on to earn $72.8 million domestically and $84.6 million worldwide. Jackass 3D opened in 2010 with $50.4 million domestically going on to earn $117.2 million and then $171.7 million worldwide. The team must be happy with the debut which is on par with the first two films plus it’s contending with the pandemic. A dozen years since the last film, this franchise still has some life in it.
Moonfall debuted in second place with a little over $10 million. No international returns have been reported yet. This is going to be an interesting one but expect it to crash and burn when all is over.
Spider-Man: No Way Home dipped to third place earning an estimated $9.6 million to bring its domestic total to just under $749 million. The film also added about $24 million over the week at the international box office to bring that to $1.027 billion. Worldwide, the film has grossed $1.776 billion.
The film is still in fourth place with its domestic lifetime gross, about $12 million behing Avatar to move into third place. That should happen before its run is over. The film sits in sixth place for worldwide lifetime gross and is unlikely to move into fifth as there’s a $273 million gap.
Scream slipped one spot to come in fourth place with an estimated $4.7 million. The film has grossed $68.9 million domestically. It also earned about $7.3 million over the week internationally to lift that to $51.4 million. With a worldwide gross of $120.3 million, the franchise has been greenlit for a sixth entry in the series.
Rounding out the top five was Sing 2 which added $4.2 million to its domestic total to lift that to $139.6 million. Over the week, the film added about $18.5 million to its international total to increase that to just under $152 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $291.5 million.
In comic films…
The King’s Man slipped out of the top five for the first time of its run coming in sixth. The film grossed an estimated $1.2 million to bring its domestic total to $35.8 million. The film also added about $4.5 million over the week at the international box office to life that to $84.9 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $120.7 million.
Eternals looks like it has ended its run with a domestic total $164.9 million. It also looks like it’s mostly done at the international box where it stands at $237.2 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed just about $402.1 million.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage returned to theaters but that looks to be over. The film has grossed $213.6 million domestically. The international box office remained steady at $288.5 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed just under $502.1 million worldwide.
Initial numbers have 27 films earning $59,519,624 from 31,054 theaters. That’s a nice increase from last weekend’s 45 films which earned $34,878,964 from 32,300 theaters theaters. The average earning was $1,916.65 this past weekend, an increase from the previous weekend’s $1,079.84.
