ComicBooks for Kids has created ComicBooks for Schools, a new subsidiary that works with educators, donors, publishers, and community partners to get comics, books, and customized learning materials into the hands of students who need them. The new charity is offering two different packages for schools on request.
The Gen-Ed K-12 Box includes comics, graphic novels, children’s books, and educational magazines for classrooms, school libraries, and study rooms, matched to the ages and grade levels of the requesting school. Each box will also include custom comics created for the charity that combines educational material with educational resources that work along with the story.
The Neurodivergent Box, designed for special education programs forstudents with dyslexia and other learning differences and the facilities that serve them. includes everything in the Gen-Ed K-12 Box, along with hands-on items like Funko POP!s, t-shirts, and toys.
In addition to those primary offerings, two partners offer specialized materials that donors can sponsor for particular schools, libaries, or organizations. Voyage Comics is collaborating in making available materials for Roman Catholic schools, religious education programs or educations. The Braille Superstore makes books, toys, games, and other products from its online store available.
ComicBooks for Kids has two other November initiatives. Oni Press has created a Rick and Morty Humble Bundle for the benefit of the charity, and a ComicBooks for Troops Weekend event around Veterans Day to collect donations for troops and their families.
ComicBooks for Troops, a sister organization to ComicBooks for Kids, sent 100,000 graphic novels to military families this year (see “ComicsBooks for Troops donates 100,000 Graphic Novels“).
