Dynamite Entertainment has announced a new addition to its ThunderCats line: ThunderCats ’85, a new series written and drawn by George Kambadais that goes back to the roots of the property, which launched as an animated cartoon in 1985. The new series will hark back to the original with a retro look and nonstop action. The ThunderCats take on Mumm-Ra in the first issue, which will be released on January 6, 2027, with covers by Kambadais, Drew Moss, Craig Rousseau, and Federico Mele.
Kambadais was the artist for Dynamite’s SilverHawks (see “Dynamite Extends ‘ThunderCats’ Universe with ‘SilverHawks’“) and Gargoyles series (see “Preview: ‘Gargoyles’ #1“) and is a contributor to Lilo & Stitch: 626 (see “Dynamite Announces Two New Stitch Projects“).
