Location of the Heist Revealed by Santa Ana Police; Social Media Posts Indicate Street Value of Cards Stolen was Higher Than $1 Million
New details on PSA/FedEx Pokémon TCG and sports card heist have emerged.
The close to $1 million heist occurred on October 13, 2026 (see “Thieves Steal Almost $1 Million“). Santa Police have since revealed, according to ABC 7 Eyewitness News, that the robbery actually took place outside of the PSA Santa Ana, California facility. The driver had apparently stepped away from their parked vehicle for 60 to 90 minutes, and in that time, the truck was broken into and thieves absconded with two full pallets and some cards from third pallet. Thus far, no arrests have been made.
Various posts have hit social media about what cards may have been stolen as part of this robbery, which have led to speculation that the value of the cards stolen exceeds the under-$1 million amount previously reported. SKY-B Cards’ return shipment of 104 cards was valued at over $100,000. Recently, another TCG collector, Tortugo on X, stated that there was a Gem Mint 10 1999 One Piece CHB Zoro First Stage (population 15) in the shipment that is valued at $500,000 (see below). Saffron Olive, a Magic influencer, also shared a post about a Gem Mint 9 The Hobbit Gleaming Gold Smaug being part of this shipment (around $40,000 to $60,000 in value). Those cards alone are worth somewhere in the ballpark of $650,000 to $700,000, and there were reportedly hundreds of cards stolen.
The $963,000 estimated value of the cards stolen, given by Santa Ana police, is likely an insurance value. The insurance value of cards sent in to PSA is declared by the submitter before grading occurs (as they pay for the insurance coverage upfront). It is very possible that the grades these cards received made the individual stolen cards far more valuable than the insurance value, and the street value of the cards more than $1 million.
