The fall season is creeping in; everything is pumpkin spice and everything nice (including Hollywood news). Time for another round-up!
Spider-Noir racked up five Emmy wins out of 11 nominations, despite its recent cancellation (see “‘Spider-Noir’ Canned“). It won Emmys for Outstanding Title Design, Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour), Outstanding Cinematography for a Series (One Hour), Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode, and Outstanding Stunt Coordination for Comedy Programming. The series set a record for most Emmy wins for a single-season series that was cancelled after its first year.
Netflix is adapting the hit video game Diablo into an animated series, according to Deadline. This was announced at BlizzCon in Anaheim, California on September 12, 2026; more details on the project will be shared in the future. Recently, Glass Cannon Unplugged announced that they will be launching a Kickstarter for a Diablo RPG (see “‘Diablo: The Roleplaying Game’“).
AMC Global Media has settled a 2022 lawsuit with Robert Kirkman and The Walking Dead’s other producers to the tune of $120 million, according to The Hollwood Reporter. This lawsuit is part of string of litigation over profit participation rights (see “AMC Lawsuit” and also, “Kirkman Gets New Life“). AMC will pay out $85 million to Kirkman and TWD producers, including Glen Mazzara, David Alpert, Charles Eglee and Gale Anne Hurd, this year and $35 million in 2027.
Star Wars and Star Wars: Starfighter will both be presented in 70mm IMAX in 2027. The February 19, 2027 re-release will be the first time the original 1977 Star Wars movie has been presented in the 70 mm IMAX format. Star Wars: Starfighter, starring Ryan Gosling, will hit theaters on May 28, 2027 (see “Best in Shows — 2027“).
Paramount+ released a new trailer for Avatar: Seven Havens (see below). This all-new series features the next Earthbender beyond Korra (see “‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Series“). It will begin streaming on October 9, 2026.
Warner Bros. revealed a new trailer for The Cat in the Hat movie (see below). This movie, originally scheduled for February 27, 2026 (see “‘The Cat in the Hat’“), will now head to theaters on November 4, 2026.Source: ICV2
