Image Comics has announced Black Kiss Compendium, a hefty paperback volume that collects Howard Chaykin’s 1988 series Black Kiss #1-12, the 2012 sequel Black Kiss II #1-6 (see “Chaykin’s ‘Black Kiss II’”), Black Kiss XXXmas in July Special, Black Kiss Hallowe’en, and additional material. The original series, a hardboiled noir erotica story set in LA and the Vatican and featuring a transgender sex worker searching for a lost reel of Vatican pornography, was controversial when it was first published, and Image gave the sequel a Mature rating.
Black Kiss Compendium will be released in comic shops on November 18 and the book channel on December 15. The 376-page paperback will have an MSRP of $29.99.
Image released a hardcover omnibus with most of the same material in 2025.
