One of the best Delta Reign Pokémon cards will be much cheaper than expected

The full product line for the upcoming Pokémon TCG set Delta Reign has been announced, showing us all the packaging, coins, dice, and the ETB. Crucially, that last one means we now know what card has been chosen for the set’s promo, and will be included in every Elite Trainer Box.

The Delta Reign promo is Kyogre, one of the sweetest Illustration Rares of the entire set. This orca-shaped embodiment of the ocean is one of the most badass Legendary Pokémon of all time, and it looks fantastic in this full art depiction by Nurikabe.

Currently, a Japanese version of this card goes for about $17, making it the second most expensive IR/AR of the set, just behind the pole-dancing Kecleon. But with a copy of this card found in every single ETB, you should be able to pick one up at a very reasonable price.

Kyogre IR card

Just for easy comparison, Chaos Rising’s promo card Fennekin costs about $3, the Charcadet from Phantasmal Flames is $2.70. More valuable products can have more expensive promos, for instance the incredible Shinji Kanda Oricorio ex from Phantasmal Flames’ Mega Charizard X ultra premium collection costs $10.50 on the secondary market. But this is unlikely for a more affordable ETB’s promo.

It does happen sometimes though. N’s Zekrom from Ascended Heroes is the rare exception to this ETB cards = cheap rule. Ascended Heroes boxes are in such high demand, and this promo card is so cool, that regular copies are selling for over $9, while those with the Pokémon Center exclusive stamp go for an astonishing $70.

While Kyogre is a popular legendary like Zekrom, the card lacks the draw of N, so I think the odds are good you’ll be able to pick up the sea-controlling cetacean for under $6.

I wonder if Kyogre being so prominent will make Delta Reign’s Groudon more desirable, as they’d look great side-by-side in a binder. Although Nurikabe also has a Groudon IR from Paradox Rift, which might actually make for a better companion card for this promo.
