Warhammer: Age of Sigmar is rightly renowned for offering a wide range of larger-than-life armies. However, it’s the Ogor Mawtribes who, perhaps, account for the most oversized of all. The entire faction consists of hulking brutes three times the size of a mortal human, each possessed of ravenous, destructive appetites. This distinctive faction is getting a brand new range of models which, I’m pleased to report, is now up for pre-order.
Though some of the offerings in Games Workshop’s latest pre-order post were available in the Ogor Mawtribes Army Set, this is the first time that the Age of Sigmar faction‘s full roster has been available for purchase. This includes Morga The Mighty, a new named character for the Ogor Mawtribes who rides into battle on a mighty Glutthorn. If you’re looking to make a warlord of your own, however, the kit can also be assembled as an unnamed Tyrant. Redd the Maw, the cauldron-toting High Slaughtermaster, and Grell Firefist, a grizzled cannoneer, are also available.
Kits for Tyrants and Butchers are also up for grabs, alongside boxes for the elite Ironguts and the hulking Gluttons, which make up the bulk of any Ogor Mawtribes army. Those looking for more spiritually inclined brutes can find what they’re looking for in the Cleavers kit (which can also be assembled as Gutseers, if you’re a fan of hooded zealots).
Ogors are also well known for their array of monstrous mounts and beastly allies. Maulbeast Raiders (also buildable as Maulbeast Cavalry) provided a rapid, flanking option for prospective warlords, while Hunters with Sabrefangs and Mantrappers provide valuable disruption. If you’re looking for something more exotic, Okar’s Torrbad is a regiment of renown which includes two Ogors on a pair of massive monstrous mounts.
The new Ogor Mawtribes Battletome is also available in both standard and Gamer’s editions, alongside some snazzy Mawtribes-themed dice.
It’s a rare joy to see a faction rejuvenated so completely. I can’t wait to see the way the folks at my local games store paint up these gorgeous new sculpts.
