Pokémon GO is beginning a phased rollout of the new Explorer Gadget, a built-in feature that lets players automatically attempt to catch Pokémon and spin PokéStops while the game is not actively open. Available to players at level 20 and higher as the feature rolls out, the Explorer Gadget uses only regular Poké Balls and works in the background while a device is being carried during everyday activities. Its daily catching and PokéStop limits are based on player level, while activity stops if Pokémon Storage or Item Bag space runs out. The feature can also skip certain Pokémon, including species not yet registered in the Pokédex and Mighty Pokémon. Players can review catches and PokéStop spins from the Explorer Gadget icon on the map or through the Key Items section of the Item Bag. The Explorer Gadget cannot operate simultaneously with a paired accessory such as Pokémon GO Plus +, and switching to an accessory while the gadget is active will end its use until the following day.
