White Wolf announced that a new edition of Vampire: The Masquerade is currently in the works.

The development of a sixth edition of Vampire: The Masquerade was revealed during the “Future of White Wolf” panel at Gen Con 2026.  This project is being led by White Wolf Creative Director Jess Lanzillo (see “Lanzillo Lands at White Wolf“), and the new edition will feature an overhauled rules engine as well as a return to some of the elements that made Vampire a revolutionary RPG to begin with.

The core rule system will undergo a number of changes, including a merger of Vitae and Willpower/Health into a single stat, negative dice modifiers (in lieu of raising TNs), and a Beast/Nature Tracker.  There is also a new Quickening resource that players can gain by rolling well, which can be used to enhance dice rolls. They have also added two mechanics, Devil’s Bargain and Choose Your Pain, which are a way to negotiate/improve failed dice rolls.

White Wolf has combined forces with Demiplane (see “Online Digital Toolset Provider“) to launch an Alpha Playtest of the game, free to all players.  This game is in early stages of development, so a release of the finished game is a ways off.
