The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund’s San Diego Comic-Con Welcome Party, a Thursday night highlight, offers attendees the opportunity to bid on silent auction items and a gift bag. The party annually brings together creators, publishers, retailers, media, and fans in beautify rooftop setting. The annual fund-raising event is sponsored this year by Marquee Sponsors Mad Cave Studios and Ignition Press, Gold Sponsor GlobalComix, and Silver Sponsors CGC and Kickstarter.
Confirmed silent auction items (with more to come) include a Heroic Signatures Conan statue; a complete set of Speed Racer #1-5 limited edition metal variant covers, an autographed Pop Kill #1 limited edition metal variant by Marguerite Sauvage, and a signed Battlecats Omnibus hardcover from Mad Cave Studios; a CGC Signature Series 9.8 graded Krypto the Last Dog of Krypton #1, signed and sketched by Dan Mora; Local Man original art by Tim Seeley; and a CGC-graded classic from the censored EC line.
Mad Cave Studios (7:00 p.m. PT) and Ignition Press (7:30 p.m. PT) will each host Whatnot livestreams in the hour before the party offering exclusive collectibles to benefit the CBLDF and a preview of their silent auction items.
The first 100 attendees will receive gift bags with a copy of Mister Nemo #1 Cover A by Mad Cave Studios; one of four books from Ignition Press (Tyler Rake: An Extraction Story #1 Ignition Exclusive Cover by Jeremy Haun, Voyeur #1 Ignition Exclusive Cover by Tula Lotay, Murder Podcast #1 Cover by Shaun Martinbrough, or Roots of Madness #1 Ignition Exclusive Cover by Karen Darboe); a CGC Premium Memberships (which includes $150 in submission credit), CGC luggage tags, 25th Anniversary CGC pins, and more.
The CBLDF San Diego Comic-Con Welcome Party is from 8 p.m. to midnight Thursday, July 23, at the Westgate Hotel. Admission is a $40 donation.
