Check out Total War: Warhammer 40K in action thanks to a new video gameplay preview from BiliBili World this past weekend.

A new Total War: Warhammer 40K gameplay video has dropped, showing off footage of the Astra Militarum against a rising green tide of Orks as the Waaagh!!! rolls in. The video comes from BiliBili World this past week, where audiences got to see firsthand some of the new units in action, including a surprise assault by Stormboyz and a line of Imperial Armor crashing through their own supply train to catch the Orks in a deadly crossfire.

I mean, just look at it. And all that footage is from an early build, subject to change. But if it only gets better from there? It’s going to be such a sumptuous feast when the game finally releases. The video shows off some of the cool things you can do.

We got to see some of the stuff the Total War franchise is known for. Including exceedingly cinematic moments just emerging from gameplay. There’s no question that it’s going to be a gorgeous game when the final version gets here. And then when mods start coming out not long after.

But I think one of the big questions that people are looking to try and glean an answer to is: how big will the game be, and how will it handle scaling? Because that’s the thing about 40K: the galaxy is impossibly huge. Billions of lives are thrown into endless conflict to protect the Imperium at such a fantastic scale that it’s difficult to imagine.

In the beginning of the video we get an idea of how Creative Assembly is going to abstract some of that. You’ll have planetary systems with collections of planets. Each planet will have a few points of interest, a fact that coincides nicely with the way Imperium Worlds tend to concentrate their resources for maximum exploitability. But we see a capital ship execute an orbital bombardment before deploying troops.

And the gang’s all here as far as troops go. We get to watch Scout Walkers stomping into position. Taking up a spot behind the supply lines with a Leman Russ. Meanwhile, tanks “discourage” Orks from crossing a bridge, funneling the mass of an Ork charge into a hapless battallion of infantry. Isn’t that just the way.

You can see a ton of the toys that both factions get to play with in action. And after watching it, I’m cautiously hopeful, not just optimistic, about how the game is going to play.
