After years of doing basically nothing at Gen Con, D&D is back in a big way with a whole ‘Tower of D&D’ and more. Check it out.
D&D is back at Gen Con in a big way this year. To the point where WotC has transformed the Indiana Repertory Theater into a six-floor experience called the D&D Tower that’s full of everything from live shows to music performances, to dungeons you can play through. Which is wild, after so long of not doing much (if anything) at Gen Con. Here’s what you can find!
D&D At Gen Con
To borrow a title from one of my favorite Calvin & Hobbes collections, the days really are just packed at this year’s Gen Con. Which is wild to me. You could basically spend your whole Gen Con doing D&D stuff. Of course you shouldn’t, and by now I’m sure you’d have to pick certain events, but the point is there’s a lot.
Some of the highlights include a performance by David Arkenstone, a name that will probably activate some of our audience, sleeper agent style, to a reverie of fantasy music from a time before tabletop audio ambient soundscapes were a thing, and you had to get a CD (or casette!) of fantasy/Celtic/world music to play up until it was time for a fight, and then out comes the Conan/Star Trek TOS Soundtrack. This is Saturday at 4pm CT.
Immediately after that, there’s a Dungeon Masters Live Play session on Saturday, August 1st at 6pm CT, where you can get a glimpse of the rules of the upcoming Arcana Unleashed books in action. Or tackle the Red Wizards yourself with the D&D Tower’s ‘Dungeon Dare: Web of the Red Wizards’ basically throughout the event.
The big announcement day, though, is Thursday July 30th at 5pm CT, when the D&D Vision Keynote will happen. If you can’t make it, don’t worry it’s going to be livestreamed as well. This is the big “what’s next for D&D” panel, including a reveal of the upcoming roadmap, first looks at upcoming books, and even more “surprises.”
It is going to be a busy Gen Con season if you’re attending. But even if you’re not, don’t worry, we’ll keep you in the loop, so be sure and check back in a couple of weeks.
In the meantime, if you want to see the D&D schedule for yourself and reserve a spot in some of those events (if you’re attending), you can follow the link below.
