40K’s new Armageddon launch box has 3 new vehicles in the set. Let’s dive into the 3 and see what they could be useful for.

Armageddon’s three new vehicle minis all do different things for their armies’. Two of them fit into the normal slot of being a role player for the army and the last oneis designed to be a very specific “punch-up” unit for the army. Let’s dive into them all and see exactly how they should shake out on the tabletop.

Big Mek Dakkarig

Let’s start with the most interesting one in the Ork Big Mek Dakkarig.  It feels like a character option that isn’t one.  Is this driven by a Big Mek or someone that the Big Mek attached to a vehicle in hopes it wrecks something or dies spectacularly? It is a weird little dude that has a ton of shooting that will most likely be hitting on a 6’s in the new age of cover giving a -1 to hit.  It feels like it almost has enough attacks to be a threat with the ability to spit out 14 Damage 2 shots into infantry.  The Rokkits are also something you can’t ignore as well as 6 damage 3 options also feel good.  I guess I can say we really have to see how much cover is going to affect you and if you have army wide ways to mitigate it.  If this guy is cheap enough to take then it could be a good way as a “slightly” too tough threat to just erase quickly and keep your Boyz alive a little longer.  I wish he was a character so you could give him a cool enhancement.

Land Speeder

The next one is the new Space Marine Land Speeder.  I am hoping this one doesn’t need rubber bands to hold together as you glue it.  The big excitement for this unit for me is the added-on weapon in the form of the Stormfury rocket. This basically lets you sorta act like it used to when the Multi-melta was the perfect anti weapon option.  I think if this platform is a cheap enough option for the Marines it will be something you will see a few of in any army. the Land Speeder’s weapon load out is fine, its movement is great, and it has the ability to scoot and shoot by letting it move away after firing some weapons.  This could be a great way to get extra movement to take an objective or just get in the way.  It also has 9 wounds which feels like a nice little uptick to make it just a wee bit annoying to remove without some serious attention.  I also think it looks pretty cool!

Wartrakk

Finally to complete the old is new again with the update 40K is the Wartrakk.  I think the biggest flex on this model is that it still looks and feels like the Old Wartrakk but updated enough to look unique and cool.  I don’t know how good it is going to be just due to the nature of Ork Shooting but it doesn’t look to big which means it can easily scoot around and get in the way of things. The suppression rule also might be ok if the game really brings down some of the rerolls to hit that plague it in the current age of 10th edition.  If this platform is very cheap it will be used but if it sits a bit too high it won’t be a justified option due to only having 7 wounds while the other vehicle options sit at 8-9.  We’ll just have to wait and see as we know anything can be good if it is cheap enough to gum up the board.

I can’t wait for that boxed set to land!!!
