Mindclash Games LLC has announced Emberheart, a worker-placement game about rescuing dragons from evil poachers, set to release in October.
In Emberheart, players become the king’s champions, dispatched to a distant island where dragons have long lived in peaceful harmony with the villagers there, but are now endangered by ruthless dragon-poachers. Each turn, players decide how to dispatch their teams of hirelings, with larger groups less vulnerable to their rivals and able to act sooner. Players can recruit heroes, each with their own powers, try to free dragons that have been captured by poachers, and train their own dragon companion to unlock abilities they can use to reinforce their hirelings. But the more successful a player is, the more they attract the unwanted attention of the poachers and their raids, forcing them to balance their actions. After five rounds, the most glorious player wins the game.
Emberheart was created by Adam Porter and Rob Fisher (designers of Kompromat, Happy Hoppers) and features artwork by Andrew Bosley (Everdell, Tapestry). The game includes 1 main board, 4 player boards, 139 cards, 222 tokens, 4 dragon pawns, and a scoring pad. It is intended for two to four players, ages twelve and up, and takes a little over an hour to play. MSRP is $39.00.Source: ICV2
