Economic turmoil has come for us all, even your digital RPG supplements. Paizo announced a price increase to PDFs next week.
Look, not to get all political or anything, but the current administration hasn’t done much good for the American people economically, let alone anyone else in the world who isn’t a billionaire. The cost of living has risen rapidly, and inflation looms – no matter what the DOW is at.
In a nutshell, everything is more expensive – even PDFs are costing more. Anyone who bought a D&D book two years ago knows the price has gone up already, and now Pathfinder and Starfinder are following suit with a price increase effective March 16th.
Paizo To Increase PDF Prices Starting March 16th
I don’t like it any more than you. But when the price of pretty much everything goes up, then it becomes more expensive to pay people to make the things. There’s only so much cutting corners and layoffs you can do before it cuts into the bottom line.
But until anyone in a position of power tips the balance of economic power back in favor of the consumers, we’re just going to see more and more of this. And prices going up is better than RPG companies going out of business.
Paizo’s announcement:
“It’s been more than three years since Paizo last adjusted PDF pricing, and the time has come once again for us to make updates to a few digital product categories. We’ve worked hard to hold the line as long as possible, even as development, art, and production costs have continued to rise.
Digital sales play a vital role in supporting Paizo’s work, and your purchase of PDFs helps us continue creating the Pathfinder and Starfinder releases you enjoy. While price changes are never welcome, we remain committed to keeping increases as limited as possible and holding the line for as long as we can.”

Basically, starting March 16th, the prices of PDFs for core rulebooks and Adventure Paths are going up by $10. So the new Hellbreakers adventure path will rise from $39.99 to $49.99. Raising prices always sucks, but it’s what it takes to keep artists and rules designers working, and leads to more adventures for players.
Look for the price increase come March 16th!
