The Twin Lance, Berehk Stornbröw, and the new Tyranid Prime are all in house and we’ve got a closer look at their miniatures!
Games Workshop is introducing three new Characters/Units to the game and they going up for Pre-Order this weekend. We’ve got them each in the studio and our very own Goatboy assembled them. Let’s take a quick look at these miniatures.
Berehk Stornbröw
Berehk is a mean looking Leagues of Votann character. I like his unique weapon and how Games Workshop modeled it for this miniature. I also love that he’s got a grudge against Orks as that feels very old school. We’ll see how the Orks feel about him on the tabletop. I also like how he’s got both battle damage (with the cybernetic arms) and the scaly skin for protection. He seems like and old school dwarf with a grudge teleported to the Grimdark and I can appreciate that.
We did a deeper dive on his rules if you’re looking for that as well. Goatboy also did his own tactical deep dive on him a well. Personally, I’m thinking he might find a place in the Leagues of Votann if you’re looking to build a list that fits him. I don’t think that means you should build a list around him but rather a list that he can support well.
Tyranid Prime With Lash Whip
Up next is the Tyranid Prime with Lash Whip. It’s not the first time we’ve had Lash Whips show up but this updated iteration features a Swiss Army Knife set of weapons.
I’m a Tyranid Player so I’m already glad to see a new character here. It’s also a Prime and I do really like running Tyranid Warriors so I’m biased here. The sculpt is at least dynamic and different enough from Tyranid Warriors to stand out. But it’s really the payload that he’s packing that I like the most.
Again, we’ve covered the unit rules already. So I won’t reiterate all that here. I just like the fact that this version has a lot of tools to use depending on what you’re fighting. It’s always nice to have Synapse creature in the fray and I think that this Tyranid Prime is great for diving in.
The Twin Lance
Finally, we have the PR Posterboys for the T’au. The Twin Lance is in the house.
The Drone is just the same model but the ribbon is on the other side. That said, I’m not a T’au player/fan but I do appreciate this unit. I like what GW is doing with them as making them a pair that fights in step together. They each have a specialty but when working in tandem they are a bigger threat. Miniature-wise, I think they also showcase how much more dynamic and impressive GW can make battlesuits now.
Their rules seem pretty good. Goatboy talked about those as well. I’m with him in his assessment that they look like they could be a legit problem for the enemy and that’s something T’au players should be glad to see. I think the toughest part is going to be finding room for them in your existing list though. But a pair of Deepstriking threats like this make a STRONG case those points and a spot.
Twin Lance? More like a Double-Dragon!
Which of these three kits is your favorite?
