The Armies of Grand Cathay and the Mechanicum are both getting reinforcements from Games Workshop this weekend!

If you’re a fan of The Old World then I hope you’re ready for the new Grand Cathay Boxed set on the way. Plus, there’s a host of new Mechanicum units ready to march to war in the Horus Heresy. But which side do they fight for? That’s up to you. Anyhow, I am liking the new kits and was impressed by the new Grand Cathay ones this weekend. What are you excited about from GW?

Skitarii Battle-Pilgrym Marshal $40

This multipart plastic kit builds a Skitarii Battle-Pilgrym Marshal, an experienced leader for your Skitarii Conclave armies in games of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. They are formidable warriors in their own right, able to lead a Skitarii force from the front. As befits their position, they have access to the holiest of weaponry. They can be armed with a voltlock handgun or archaeotech pistol, and a phase claw, corposant stave, or auctorit sceptre, giving them the tools to take on any foe. The miniature also comes with two optional servo-skulls and a choice of three heads – hooded, bare, and helmeted with a crest – making it easy to customise your Marshal.

This miniature has no allegiance-specific markings, so you can use it in any Mechanicum force, whether you believe the Emperor to be the true Omnissiah or a false prophet.

Armed with an arc blaster, Vultarax missile launcher, and dendrite talons, this fast unit is a threat at range and at close quarters. There are a variety of different dendrite talons and tendril designs, offering a degree of customisation.

This multipart plastic kit builds six Myrmidon Destructors, elite heavy infantry for your Mechanicum armies in games of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. They can be equipped with armour-busting darkfire cannons or infantry-melting irradiation engines. When the fighting gets close, they employ their shock chargers to crush their foes. This durable unit is a great way to provide ranged support as it advances alongside the rest of your army. Each Myrmidon Destructor has a choice of two heads – hooded or unhooded – and there are six servo-skulls, which are interchangeable across the miniatures.

This multipart plastic kit builds 16 Skitarii Battle-Pilgryms, fast infantry for your Skitarii Conclave armies in games of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. Each equipped with a voltlock arquebus, they are prepared to take on even the toughest enemy infantry. Their augmentations and armour make them difficult to kill, resulting in a tough, hard-hitting unit.

They can be assembled as one large unit or two units of 8 Battle-Pilgryms, each with their own optional squad leader armed with a voltlock handgun and power sword. There are 16 heads (of 8 designs), which are interchangeable across the miniatures. Two of the models each have a choice of two pieces of rubble to stand on.
