For fans of the “Think like everyone else” party game, Green Team Wins, there’s a new expansion in town and it comes with a dash of holiday cheer.
Green Team Wins: Holiday Party is a cards-only expansion to be added to the base game.
Expansion Overview:
Holiday party contains 105 holiday themed cards which can be shuffled into the base game or used on their own with the markers and boards from the base game. The expansion adds no new rules. The cards are grouped into the same three categories—Fill in the Blank, This or That, and Best of Three—from Green Team Wins and have identical backs, while the faces have a new look for Christmas. This expansion does not affect player count or game length.

Game Experience with the Expansion:
Sometimes you just need a party game. Sometimes that’s what people expect and feel welcomed by. As gamers, we can forget how daunting even something as seemingly simple as Ticket to Ride can look to the casual eye. That’s why Green Team Wins has a solid place in my collection. And what better time to offer a taste of the familiar and comfortable than Christmas? Holiday Party doesn’t do anything revolutionary, it’s just more cards, but for a Christmas party with co-workers or cousins, it offers just the sort of festive vibes people crave this time of year.

For the most part the cards offer appropriately divisive options that should result in varied opinions, though some of the fill in the blank options felt either wide open, like “Cold ______” or very specific, like “Sleigh ______”. This leaves it feeling like the designers were struggling at times to come up with fitting options. But for the most part, I think a decent amount of thought was put into creating scenarios that would be both on-theme and interesting.
If you limit your game session to only the cards from the expansion you’ll get a more thematic game night, but after multiple plays, you’ll start to encounter the same cards, which can be problematic if playing with the same group, but that’s an issue with any game containing prewritten scenarios like this. The good news is these can be shuffled into the base game to give more variety, which I think is always nice for a game like this.

Final Thoughts:
Overall, this expansion is what I expected it to be: fun, silly, and festive. If you like Green Team Wins and want to put a holiday twist on it, then you won’t regret this little addition, though it neither makes nor breaks the game. If you’re not a fan of the base game, then obviously this won’t be for you.
Hits:
• Super easy to add in
• Festive theme for the holidays
Misses:
• Some cards are either too specific or too open
