Exclusive: Mad Cave Announces ‘Indigo,’ First Title in Nakama Press Imprint

Mad Cave has announced the first title in its Nakama Press imprint, which will focus on East Asian and Asian-style comics: Indigo, by brothers Chi-Ho Kwong and Chi-Kit Kwong, the story of a reporter named Ella who can sense people’s thoughts and communicate with plants and animals. When she sets out to investigate her former professor’s apparent suicide, Ella is caught up in a deepening web of mystery and danger. The one-shot graphic novel won the 2023 Hong Kong Comic Support Program Gold Award. The Nakama Press edition, a 216-page paperback, will be released on May 20, 2025 with an MSRP of $10.99.

Indigo is a journey of self-discovery and searching for the purpose of life, as humankind has done over the past tens of thousands of years,” said Chi-Ho Kwong in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Creating this story with my brother Chi-Kit was an extraordinary experience. While unfolding the life purpose of Ella, I also unfolded mine.”
