Newest Pokémon set – Prismatic Evolutions cards and details

The newest Pokémon set is Prismatic Evolutions, releasing on Friday, January 17, 2025. It’s no exaggeration to say this is the most exciting (and hard to get) new Pokémon card set since 2023’s Pokémon 151, with spectacular new cards for the ever popular ‘Eeveelutions‘ driving fans and scalpers into a frenzy. This guide explains what’s new, what’s powerful, and what to buy.

As Prismatic drops, our Pokemon TCG news page will carry news on the biggest price moves and chase cards, but we won’t go into detail on card values here; if you’re after the big bucks, check out our list of the most expensive rare Pokémon cards of all time.

Prismatic Evolutions set details

English Release date January 17, 2025
Total cards 180
Main set cards 131
Secret rare cards 49

The first major Special Set release of 2025, Prismatic Evolutions has the Pokémon TCG community in a whirl, offering a whole range of riotously colorful new cards for a beloved group of classic, nostalgic Pokémon: Eevee and its various iconic evolved forms. The Terastal phenomenon seen in Surging Sparks continues here, with the familiar Eeveelutions returning as vivid, crystalline Tera Pokémon ex.

Prismatic Evolutions is the English language version of the Japanese set Terastal Festival, which dropped in December 2024. As usual, though, the Western release has generated vastly more hype, with pre-orders for Elite Trainer Boxes and collections repeatedly selling out online in hours or even minutes.

Fans are already comparing it to the ultra desirable Pokémon 151 set, which launched in September 2023 with brand new, shiny versions of all your favorite, original Gen 1 Pokémon from the 1990s. While other releases came and went in 2024, the mighty 151 remained in huge demand non-stop, making packs almost impossible to find at times – and it looks as though Prismatic Evolutions may go the same way in 2025.

Best Prismatic Evolutions cards

By far the most exciting, hype generating Prismatic Evolutions cards are the Pokémon ex Special Art Rare (SAR) cards for the newly crystal-ified Eeveelutions: Umbreon, Sylveon, Espeon, Jolteon, Glaceon, Vaporeon, Flareon, and Leafeon. But there are quite a few other gorgeous stand out cards here. Here are our top picks to watch out for:

Pikachu ex Gold Ultra Rare #236

Ultra Rare (UR) cards, a.k.a. gold cards, are among the rarest pulls in any set, and this gorgeous metallic rendition of everyone’s favorite electric mouse, in Tera ex form, is sure to be among the most desirable Prismatic Evolutions cards.

Umbreon Master Ball Reverse Holo #92

Widely tipped to be the number one most valuable card of the set once Prismatic Evolutions fully hits the western market, the Master Ball holo version of Umbreon is expected to command higher prices even than the spectacular ex SAR version below, due to an ultra low expected pull rate.

Umbreon ex SAR #217

The most hyped card of the set by far, Umbreon ex SAR is an unquestionable stunner of a full art card. So hotly anticipated is it that the last popular full art version of the dark type eeveelution – Moonbreon, a.k.a. the Evolving Skies Umbreon VMAX has tripled in price recently and now fetches well over $1,000.

Sylveon ex SAR #212

Almost as in demand is Prismatic’s Sylveon ex SAR card, and you can see why; the sheer level of Kawaii radiation here is off the charts. We wouldn’t be surprised if opening a pack containing this card resulted in a blast of pink ribbons, flower petals, and sweet perfume bursting out into your face.

If psychic type Eeveelution Sylveon isn’t already in your personal list of the cutest Pokemon ever, it will be soon.

Eevee ex SAR #223

You can’t have Eeveelutions without the adorable Eevee to evolve into ’em – and this ex special art rare is the one to nab if you can. In many ways, it’s the emblematic ‘mascot’ card of this whole set, showing the crystalline, Terastal version of good ol’ Eevs, bursting with color against a chilled-out leafy background.

Top Prismatic Evolutions products to buy

As with every mainline Pokémon card set release, Prismatic Evolutions is coming out multiple different packs available to get your hands on the new cards – but for now only two options are in stores.

Elite Trainer Box

A balanced, collection-building choice for many players, a Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Box gives you nine booster packs, one full-art foil Eevee promo card, and a bunch of materials to build a Pokémon deck, including 45 Energy cards, 65 card sleeves, six damage counter dice, a competition-legal coin-flip die and two plastic markers for Pokémon special conditions.

Binder Collection

The other option right now, a Binder Collection, is a bit cheaper, with just five booster packs and no extra cards or accessories – but (of course) includes a snazzy looking binder, emblazoned with Prismatic Evolutions artwork featuring Eevee, with space for 378 cards.
