All 2025 Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Official Competitions—including official Online Competitions—will be held using the following age divisions.
- Junior Division: Born in or after 2013
- Senior Division: Born between 2009 and 2012
- Masters Division: Born in or before 2008
See below for instructions on how to set your competition location and age division.
- Open the X menu.
- Select Poké Portal.
- Select Battle Stadium.
- Select Online Competitions.
- Set your competition location and age division.
Note: Once you’ve signed up for a competition, you will not be able to change the competition location or age division settings until the event is completed.
Like live Pokémon Video Game Championship (VGC) events, official Online Competitions award Championship Points. These competitions are held over the span of a few days via the Battle Stadium, and they feature players from across the globe competing in their home regions for a World Championships invite! The format is a little different from in-person VGC events, providing new challenges for competitors. There are currently two official types of Online Competition: Grand Challenges and Global Challenges. Grand Challenges are limited to players competing in Championship Point–earning locations.
Keep in mind that in order to earn Championship Points, you need to link your Nintendo Account to your Pokémon Trainer Club account before you register for an official Online Competition, and you’ll need to keep them linked until after rewards have been awarded. If you unlink your accounts in the future, you’ll retain any Championship Points you’ve earned. If you simply wish to register for and compete in competitions without being eligible for Championship Points, you don’t need to link your accounts.
Good luck battling in 2025, Trainers!
