There are some intriguing new titles on list of the Top 20 best-selling Adult graphic novels according to Circana (formerly NPD) BookScan data for October 2024 (10/6/24 – 11/2/24) provided to ICv2.
At number 3 is the first volume of Destroy All Humans. They Can’t Be Regenerated. A Magic: The Gathering Manga. In addition to having a really long title, this is a limited edition, the first printing, with a Magic card inside. While BOOM! Studios has been publishing Magic comics for a while (see “More ‘Magic’ From BOOM! “), this is the first Magic manga. Another new manga in the Top 20 is Vol. 1 of The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All, a fairly common trope with an unusual look: The manga is printed in black and an acid green. This title was getting some buzz at New York Comic Con a few weeks ago. And down at number 19 is Gou Tanabe’s manga adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s The Call of Cthulhu, the first one of Tanabe’s Lovecraft adaptations to make the Top 20.
Two early-October titles that appeared on the September chart, MrBallen Presents and Vol. 7 of Lore Olympus, are back on the chart for a second month; in both cases, the hardcover edition is in the Top 20 and the paperback is not.
For the second month in a row, there are seven hardcovers in the Top 20.
